Giclée print.

Rembrandt is another artist who's work I greatly admire. In his portraits and self-portraits, I'm fascinated by the way he angles the sitter's face so that there is extreme contrast, and balance, between light and dark, and his tendency to use very dark backgrounds serves to accentuate the illuminated areas of the face.

My drawing is based on one of his earlier self portraits, 'Self-portrait with Gorget', c 1629.

There's a look of innocence and uncertainty about him I think, unaware of the powerful and astonishing works he was yet to create.

Rembrandt as a Young Man (Print)

  • Upon receipt please handle your portrait with care by the very edges, and do not touch or brush anything against the surface of the paper. It should be kept in a cool, dry environment, out of direct sunlight. I would recommend framing at the earliest opportunity, leaving it in the sleeve until then.

Where work is on standard sized paper (A4/A3), it should be easy to frame with an off-the-shelf frame, readily available from shops with/without pre-cut mount. However, for optimal results and longevity I would advise going to a professional framer.
